John Decker joined the Firm in 2011 and currently serves as a Director of Equity. He’s responsible for following industries and stocks for the equity portfolios managed at Greenwood Capital. John is also the portfolio manager of our Small Cap strategy since inception. On a daily basis, he monitors news and earnings on our holdings and enjoys researching underfollowed companies and finding new stock ideas for our portfolios.
Originally from New Jersey, Decker has been in the financial services industry for more than 20 years. Prior to joining Greenwood Capital, he was a Senior Equity Analyst/Portfolio Manager at Systematic Financial Management; Equity Analyst at Thomson Horstmann & Bryant; and, a Fixed Income Credit Analyst at Chase Asset Management in New York.
He received his B.S. in Financial Management from Clemson University and became a Chartered Financial Analyst® in 2003.
