Walter B. Todd, III
President, Chief Investment Officer

“In economics, things take longer to happen than you think they will; and then they happen faster than you thought they could.”  –Rudiger Dornbusch, economist

As President of Greenwood Capital, Walter provides leadership for overall business strategy; and as Chief Investment Officer, he oversees consistent implementation of the Firm’s investment philosophy.  Walter is also a Principal of the Firm.  Personally, he enjoys helping people achieve their goals.  Professionally, he welcomes opportunities to explain financial and economic concepts at industry conferences, to students, and even the media, in a manner that is relevant to each topic and group.

Having established and achieved his own set of personal goals – being accepted at The Wharton School, graduating in the top of his class, and working on Wall Street – as President/CIO of Greenwood Capital, Walter continues to be as disciplined in working with institutions and clients in achieving their goals.

Prior to joining the Greenwood Capital team in 2002, Walter served as an Investment Banking Associate at Lehman Brothers Global Real Estate Group in New York, NY.  He also worked as an analyst for First Union Capital Markets Group in Charlotte, NC.  He received his undergraduate degree in business administration from Washington & Lee University, where upon graduation he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship.  He also earned his M.B.A. in finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar.
