About Us

Greenwood Capital is a premier wealth and asset management firm in South Carolina. We serve families, institutional investors, and financial advisors by providing a comprehensive and consultative approach to financial planning and investment management.

We differentiate ourselves by offering direct access to our investment managers and by making in-house portfolio decisions, rather than relying on third-party investment managers. This hands-on approach ensures you receive tailored investment solutions aligned with your financial goals.

Who We Serve

Greenwood Capital focuses on serving three distinct client segments that value our consultative services and investment solutions. Clients include families and individuals, institutions such as endowments, foundations, and municipalities, and financial advisors.

We focus on whether we are a good philosophical fit for prospective investors.

Our Values

Selective

We focus on whether we are a good philosophical fit for prospective investors. We look to build and preserve lasting wealth for a discerning group of families and individuals, institutional investors, and financial advisors.

Consultative

We operate as your financial partner and fiduciary, which means we are legally bound to prioritize your interests. This fundamental principle guides our actions and decisions, and we take it seriously. We’ve built our collaborative philosophy upon a commitment to personalized service and a deep understanding of your needs and goals.

Customized

We customize your investment plan. You will have a private client advisor consultant to manage your relationship and portfolio. Each advisor is backed by our team of wealth managers, investment managers, and client service specialists for depth and continuity. You have direct access to these professionals.

Fiduciary Responsibilities

As a fiduciary, Greenwood Capital is legally bound to prioritize the interests of our clients. This fundamental principle guides our actions and decisions, and we take it very seriously. To ensure that we keep the highest standards of integrity and transparency, any potential conflicts that may arise are clearly disclosed in our ADV (Advisory Disclosure Document).

Additionally, we built a robust internal training program and maintain a culture of compliance to ensure that our practices comply with relevant laws and regulations. By doing so, we can provide our clients with the peace of mind that comes from knowing their assets are managed with the utmost care and professionalism.

We take a global perspective in managing your financial life—and a personal approach to thoughtfully customizing your investment plan by getting to know your needs.

Community Involvement

Greenwood Capital has historically supported philanthropic efforts throughout South Carolina. We continue to prioritize giving back to our community and have donated more than $1,000,000 to local non-profits since our founding in 1983. As a firm, we have contributed funds, sponsored events, and lent our expertise to boards and foundations. On an individual level, Greenwood Capital employees regularly volunteer their time and talents at community events, fundraisers, golf tournaments, and more.

In addition, we have been partnering with the Countybank Foundation since 2008 to expand our philanthropic footprint.

Our History

Greenwood Capital has its roots as the in-house pension fund manager of Greenwood Mills, an industry-leading century-old textile company based in Greenwood, South Carolina. Our convictions come from a history of managing a multi-million-dollar portfolio and the retirement incomes of hard-working families through turbulent times. We have evolved over 40 years into one of the largest independent full-service wealth management and asset management companies in the Southeast.
