Former Principal of Greenwood Capital, John joined the Firm in 1988. Today he is our consulting economist, working closely with the Investment Team as a member of Investment Committee. During his tenure as Principal, he served as a portfolio manager, sector analyst and client advisor. Through extensive reading and research, he keeps abreast of current economic trends and events, discussing how they may affect the market.
Prior to joining the Firm, John was the Dean of the School of Business at Lander University in Greenwood, SC for more than six years. He also served as Professor and Assistant Dean of the School of Business at the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg, SC, and as Associate Professor of Business Administration at The Citadel in Charleston, SC.
John earned his Ph.D. in applied economics from Clemson University, where he also earned his M.S. in economics. He has a B.A. in business administration from Furman University. John serves on the Board of the Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation and on the Session and Endowment Committee for his church.
